About Corey Tyree: Corey is the co-founder and CEO of Trillium Renewable Chemicals. Prior to Trillium, he was Senior Director of Southern Research, an R&D service provider to clients in the chemicals and energy sectors. Before joining Southern Research, he was Engineering Manager at Georgia Power, where he oversaw $100M in capital projects at large fossil energy facilities. His expertise includes technology commercialization and large project delivery. Corey holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Arizona State University.

Trillium Renewable Chemicals, a company based in Knoxville, has recently raised $10.6M in its Series A funding round, marking a major milestone in the company’s mission to revolutionize the chemical industry with sustainable practices. Trillium is pioneering using renewable feedstocks, such as glycerin, to produce high-quality chemicals that are not only environmentally friendly but also cost-competitive with their petroleum-based counterparts.

The company’s proprietary technology has already been proven to produce chemicals such as acrylonitrile and acetonitrile, which are widely used in various applications, including personal care, apparel, automotive, aerospace, renewable energy, medical, toys, sporting goods, and other products. With its latest funding, Trillium plans to scale its production and bring its sustainable chemicals to a wider market, helping to reduce the carbon footprint of various industries.
