Carlisle Richardson grew up on St. Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean. He earned degrees in Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom, before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he was posted to the Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations.

In 2011, Carlisle joined the United Nations, working in the Division for Sustainable Development where he was a key figure in the work on Small Island Developing States. He continues his mission today as an economic affairs officer for the United Nations in New York, where he lives with his wife and daughter.
