Dr. F. Edward Murdoch is an orthodontist with decades of experience and is the author of Start Loving Your Smile. Dr. F. Edward Murdoch is a native of Fredricton, New Brunswick. He attended University of New Brunswick, and was accepted into the faculty of dentistry at Dalhousie University after completing three years of university.

Dr. Murdoch was awarded his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Dalhousie and his Bachelor of Science in biology cum laude from UNB in 1988. He received the Charles Bell Award for high academic achievement in all subjects during dental school.

Dr. Murdoch left the Maritimes for the West Coast shortly after graduation, and this has been his home ever since. After practicing general dentistry in North Vancouver for five years while teaching part-time in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at University of British Columbia, he followed his passion into orthodontics, and continued his postgraduate education at Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York.

Dr. Murdoch completed a postgraduate fellowship in TMJ disorders in 1994, and was awarded his certificate in orthodontics in 1996. While at Eastman he conducted research on skeletal asymmetries under the mentorship of Dr. Ross Tallents and Dr. Daniel Subtelny. Dr. Murdoch has practiced orthodontics in the Nanaimo and Parksville area since 1996.

Dr. Murdoch is a fellow of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia in orthodontics. He maintains professional memberships in the Canadian Dental Association, the British Columbia Dental Association, and the American Association of Orthodontists. He participates in the Island Orthodontic Seminar (IOS), Seminars for the Advancement of Dentistry, and the Malaspina Dental Study Clubs.

Dr. Murdoch lives in Nanoose with his wife Leslie. They have two children, Jacob and Erin. He enjoys spending time with his family skiing, surfing, and experiencing the raw natural beauty of the island.
