Maili Wong is a leading Canadian investment advisor, published author, and licensed portfolio manager, set apart from her competitors by a fresh, modern approach to investing. Her first book, Smart Risk, shares her personal story of resilience, while letting the reader in on secrets gleaned over a 15 year career in international investing.

Maili called New York City home for five years, during which she helped manage over $5 billion in assets for Eton Park Capital, an award-winning investment firm spun-off from Goldman Sachs. Prior to this, she specialized in derivatives and options at Merrill Lynch’s New York City headquarters. Maili also worked in Toronto, Canada on the investment team of a global insurance company in 1999.

She graduated as “Most Outstanding Female Graduate” from the University of British Columbia, boasting a bachelor’s degree of commerce in Finance with honors. While attending UBC, she was chosen to manage a multimillion-dollar endowment portfolio as a member of the Portfolio Management Foundation. She simultaneously served as an elected member of the University’s Board of Governors.

Maili is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder, Certified Financial Planner® practitioner, licensed life insurance advisor, and a Family Enterprise AdvisorTM certificate. She specializes in helping affluent families preserve their wealth across generations.

Maili has been invited to participate in a number of high profile events, with roles including: keynote speaker for the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (UBC), featured panelist with the Vancouver Board of Trade. She’s also an expert contributor to the CFA Institute’s Global Body of Knowledge in 2015.
