Mark Klaassen

Dr. Mark Klaassen has over thirty years of experience, specializing in total joint replacement, robotic-assisted procedures, and advanced hip and knee surgeries. Known for his expertise in outpatient joint replacement surgery, Dr. Klaassen’s focus has always been on improving patient mobility and quality of life. Throughout his career, he has remained a leader in orthopedic innovation and medical education, contributing extensively to the development of advanced surgical techniques and medical devices. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Goshen College, and earned his medical degree at Indiana University.

Dr. Klaassen has also been a dedicated educator, serving as a Professor of Science at the University of Notre Dame and as an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine. Over the years, he has mentored orthopedic surgeons across the United States and internationally, sharing his specialized knowledge and commitment to advancing the field. His fluency in Spanish has allowed him to reach even more patients and students, both at home and abroad.

In addition to his practice, Dr. Klaassen volunteers annually on mission trips to Central America, where he provides joint replacement surgeries to underserved populations. Partnering with organizations like Operation Walk Midwest and Hope in Motion, he has brought transformative care to patients who otherwise lack access to these life-changing procedures.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Klaassen is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hobbies such as boating, fishing, bicycling, hiking, and water sports. Born in Indiana and raised in Colombia, he attributes much of his commitment to service to his upbringing and faith, which have shaped both his career and personal life.
