Mark Roberts is the founder of Off Wall Street, an independent equity research firm specializing in short sale recommendations for institutional investors. Over more than three decades, he built a reputation for clarity, rigor, and intellectual independence, providing deeply researched ideas to some of the world’s leading hedge funds.

Before launching his firm in 1990, Roberts ran a steel distribution business with his brother and worked as an analyst in both buy-side and sell-side roles. He also holds a master’s degree in French literature, an education that shaped his analytical instincts and his approach to framing complex ideas.

His call on Enron in May 2001—months before its historic collapse—brought national attention to Off Wall Street and cemented the firm’s place in the pantheon of contrarian research providers. At its peak, the firm covered more than 600 companies and became known for its discipline in identifying deteriorating fundamentals before consensus caught up.
