Marty Parks has worked in communications, higher education, and insurance – but now writes about golf for the United States Golf Association. He brings is varied experience to his book, Disrupter.


About

Marty Parkes headed up the communications functions of Maryville University from 2009–2011. He also subsequently led the communications efforts for two private colleges located in Pennsylvania. He earned his BA degree in economics from Trinity College in Hartford in 1981. Parkes later completed a year of graduate study in international relations at The London School of Economics in England.

Parkes started his professional career in the corporate world working for two insurance companies in his native Connecticut. Then he gave up gainful employment to relocate and write about golf for the United States Golf Association.

Parkes has published articles in varied publications such as The New York TimesGolf Journal, and Sports Illustrated. He authored the books Classic Shots (foreword by Arnold Palmer and afterword by Thomas L. Friedman) and Up on the Hill as well as contributed an essay to the book Golf’s Golden Age.
